The tradition of Persian miniatures has ancient roots, dating back at least to the time of the Timurid Empire (14th-15th century). However, it was during the Safavid period (16th-18th century) that this art form reached its peak. The miniatures were often created to decorate manuscripts, including books of poetry, history, and religious texts.
